Nearly thirty years ago, in college, I met one of the best friends I have ever had.
Freddie came looking for a guitar pick and since I was the only new guy around (he had already hit everybody he knew)
I was the choice. I gave up the pick, he invited me over for a "smoke", some tunes, and fellowship. I went and was turned on to John's music.
I had never been so impressed with anyone's beautiful
intelligent renderings before. Freddie's gone now and
we buried him up on the hill where they do do the
boogie. We played John's music after the funeral
and now John's gone now. I sit here writing this
with tears in my eyes. Both for the loss of a great musician
and for the loss of my friend who I never got to tell that I
Loved him one more time. I miss you both!
