I'd been a fan since the mid-70's, but got to meet Mr. Hartford at a TNN taping hosted by Mr. Ralph Emery on the newly christened Gen. Jackson at Opryland in the mid 80's. Except for my two long-haired river rats and myself, the crowd was 100% tour bussed-in blue-haired retirees that were only intersested in dinner. Before the show, we asked Mr. Hartford if he was planning to play "Granny won't you smoke some". He flashed a big smile and said, "its funny how one song can be totally appropriate and inappropriate at the same time."
