I got turned on to John Hartford in the late seventies in college, when I started listening to bluegrass. Altoug I didn't get to see him perform live that often, both in his live performances and his recordings you could sense his love of life and distinct style. My wife regards "Gentle on My Mind" as one of her all time favorite songs, & we when our cat had a one kitten litter, we named him "Johnny" out of respect and frivolity towards a performer whose music had enriched our lives.
