I first met John Hartford when I was about 13 or 14. I was a somewhat pudgy, self-conscious teen and when introduced to John, he did his little flip with his derby hat....he won me over right away and made me feel so special. As discerning and intelligent as John was, I'm sure he sensed my shyness and no doubt noticed my awkwardness...I'll never forget that.
