In 1985 there has a club in Grand Junction, CO that booked musicians who where passing through enroute to some bigger show. John Hartford happened to be one of those musicians passing through. It was a small club and we sat at a table up front.
I always enjoyed John's music but had never seen him in action. I watched curiously as a wooden platform was layed out in front of the microphone. We didn't have a clue what it was for.
John came on stage and started dancing and playing and I was immediately fasinated by the whole show. His music made me feel at home. Feel good. feel at ease.
He signed autographs after the show. He seemed so at ease with people.
Thanks John. You never die as long as one person keeps a memory of you.
