In 1971 an old friend and fellow picker gave me a harmonica that belonged to John. He knew I was fond of Glenn Campbell and would appreciate the gesture. When he told me who the harmonica had belonged to I was somewhat bewildered. At the time I must confess I didn't know who John Hartford was.I felt since I was going to play this harmonica I'd better find out a little about the previous owner.It was at that point I became acquainted with John and his music. That's all it took.From 1971 to this present day I still love and cherish John and his music.Unfortunately my bragging on the harmonica resulted in it's theft. Whoever stole John's harmonica from me may be playing it today but there's one thing they couldn't steal from me and that is the memories of John and his music.
