Established in 2011 at the Bill Monroe Music Park & Campground in Bean Blossom, Indiana, the John Hartford Memorial Festival is known as “The Most Laid-Back Festival in America”! Our unique festival maintains a genre busting line-up like no other festival with a list of performers whose music is varied, different, fresh and original, and rooted in the Spirit of John Hartford!
My husband Ron and I attended that first Johan Hartford festival. I remember the tie dyes everywhere, and beads, and that distinctive smell of my in the air. We had the cabin closest to the stage. It, unfortunately was too close behind the outhouses but we dealt with it. We wore our derby hats and Ron carried his banjo everywhere we went, and honestly felt as tho we were the only real fans there. There was some music that might fit with Johns style, and it we had fun regardless.
My question is this, I don’t quite the date…you’re saying 2011, but Ron taken by cancer June5, 2011, so that doesn’t connect right.
I wonder if it was 2010 that we were there, and that festival hadn’t officially taken Johns name? I’ll have to search through my little daytime book notes and investigate further. It will bother me, so please do take a minute to answer me back. I remain a true John Hartford fan

The festival has been named the John Hartford Music Festival every year since it started in 2010. It has always started the week after Memorial day. I hope this helps answer your question.
